The Long Dark and New Mode coming to PS4
The game has kind of been humming around for a couple of years as Early access versions was available on both Xbox One and PC Steam but now the developers have stated that PS4 gamers will be able to get a peep of the action.
For those curious about the story will be a five-part episodic series, with the first two episodes scheduled for release on August 1 on the PS4 Xbox One and PC alongside a new narrative mode, called Wintermute. In the first two episodes, the player controls Mackenzie, but Lierop says that later episodes will let players control Greenwood, as well. Each episode will be about five hours long.
In terms of the actual story two characters–Will Mackenzie and Astrid Greenwood–crash-land in Canada after a “geomagnetic disaster. and therefore the objective is survival at its purest. In the first two episodes, the player controls Mackenzie, but eventually as the story progressed players will get the chance to play as Greenwood, as well. Each episode will be about five hours long.
All in all whilst I personally haven’t even seen this game before it does look pretty impressive and I do like the concept and the overall idea behind it.
Something about this game kind of reminds me a little of Firewatch so I will be very intrigued on how the actual gameplay pans out. It seems episodic games are a thing that is become more and more common now and if the story is strong and intense it will surely keep the player interested to seeing out all the episodes upon release.
Anyway peeps let me know your thoughts in the comments below for The Long Dark coming to the PS4 and also the reveal for the new narrative mode. Have you had a chance to test this game out on the Xbox One or PC since the availability of the early access?
