It was announced by Xbox boss Phil Spencer during the Game Developers Conference panel that the Battletoads will appear in the Xbox One issue of Shovel Knight. It was showed out that is not all that have been looked forward to.
At the last part of the Shovel Knight trailer showed off universal app support, there was a short appearance of the Battletoads showing their involvement in a future update to the platforming game. This was supported by head Chris Carla with a quick remark where we can see next Battletoads.
This is the recent update of a latest Battletoads game from Microsoft. Last year, the company restructure Battletoads trademark creating speculation that a latest game could be in work. The very latest, Spencer showed in a presentation made in January with a Battletoads T-shirt. When he was asked about it, he replied, “I don’t think I’ve ever worn a t-shirt that’s been a complete head-fake. I wouldn’t do that.”
Rare developed the Battetoads series. It is the same company which did the Donkey Kong Country, Kinect Sports and Golden Eye. It is more than 15 years from the time Battletoads game was launched yet the outlets has a fervent fan base.
All in all this is a great look to revamp a classic gaming franchise. I use to love playing Battle toads on the NES and Super Nintendo and would certainly welcome this game back on the Xbox One. With the new techonology available to developers now it would be astonishing to see what the game developers can do with a new version of Battletoads.
