Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter campaign has become the most successful video game, with almost 70,000 fans pledging money. It’s a thought that was being raised few months ago. The thought is, it is not only the existence of a Shenmue III, but it’s the biggest Kickstarter projects in history. Recently, it has been announced that the game has just wrapped up after a long month of the campaign. The figures were being raised by developer Ys Net highlighting $6,333,295 from the 69,320 backers.
These backers pledge just to make sure the game will happen. Since the number has gone beyond its original target, it is a record breaker for video games on Kickstarter Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night at $5.5 million in the previous times. Shenmue III’s Kickstarter was being revealed during the E3 press conference by Sony, and its original target was $2 million. Series creator Yu Suzuki noted later that he guarantee a “true open world” game if it hits at least $10 million. Since he made this statement, Suzuki was asked about his opinion on a $6,333,295 figure. According to him, he was not disappointed. He further added that the important is to make use of the budget wisely.
Since it exceeds $2 million, some expanded goals are met, that will stretch the game’s scope to include skill rapport and tree system, and additional quests. Shenmue 3 is available to purchase digitally for PS4 and PC in 2017. Although the details are still uncertain, Shenmue III does have the outside backing from others also, so it’s possible that they will offer to create a difference.
